July 16, 2010 Welcome to the Faculty of Forestry! By choosing the Faculty of Forestry you have chosen a school with rich history and international reputation. You will not only learn from and work with prominent scholars and students at this faculty, but you will become a part of our community. You will become a building block which will add on to the Faculty’s heritage. The Forestry Graduate Students Union (FGSA) exists to ensure that the Faculty of Forestry community is strong and unified. We exist to ensure that your experience here is positive and unforgettable. To achieve this, the FGSA is planning to host numerous social and educational events which will act as a platform for our community growth. Some of planned events include the welcoming barbecue, open-mic pubnight, get-away weekend, Salsa night, coffee breaks/potluck lunches, movie nights, and many more. Traditionally, athletics have been a big part of the Faculty’s life. Therefore, if you have any athletic aspirations or simply want to have some fun on the field we encourage you to sign up for our teams. Some tournaments we’re planning to participate in this year are hockey (we have a very successful team), volleyball (not so successful), soccer (debut this year), as well as lumber sports (great fun!). However, if you’d like to start your own team in any other sport, let us know, and we’ll complete all the paperwork! Our office number is 2018 (just around the corner from the second floor lunch room). We will schedule office hours for the first week of September for any inquiries you might have. We also encourage students to get involved. Therefore, if you have any ideas or would like to help us with our (fun) tasks, drop by and talk to us!
